Resources for Undocumented Students
Although undocumented students may qualify for a tuition exemption under AB 540
legislation, UCSB cannot provide any federal, state, or university funds to undocumented
students. However, undocumented students may pursue funds from outside agencies that
determine eligibility for their funds without regard to citizenship status.
This search engine allows students to search for scholarships for which citizenship
doesn’t matter or is not required:
- Latino College Dollars

The following agencies indicated that either their scholarship programs are open to
students without regard to citizenship or that they have special scholarship programs
that target undocumented students. Please contact the agencies directly for more
information.

• Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
The Davis Putter Scholarship Fund provide need-based grants to students who are able
to do academic work at the college level and are actively working for peace and justice.
Davis-Putter scholars are both graduate and undergraduate students and must be enrolled
in an accredited school and receiving college credits for the time period covered by
their grant. Early recipients fought for civil rights, against McCarthyism, and for
peace in Vietnam. More recently, grantees have been active in the struggle against
racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression; building the movement for
economic justice; and creating peace through international, anti-imperialist solidarity.
