Summer Aid

To apply for Financial Aid for the 2012 Summer Session, you must:

  • Complete all Financial Aid requirements for the 2011-2012 academic year, including submitting a FAFSA and providing any required additional documents. For more information, visit Applying.
  • Submit a Summer Financial Aid Application

Note: Summer Financial Aid awards are based on the session(s) and total number of units a student indicates on the Summer Financial Aid Application. Students who enroll in and pay for fewer units or attend fewer weeks than originally indicated on their Summer Financial Aid Application will be billed back for Financial Aid already received. Be sure to revise your application if your summer enrollment plans change.

Special Summer Programs

Students enrolled in special programs, such as Education Abroad, Freshman Summer Start, Consortiums, UCDC (UC Washington), Graduate Summer Language Institute, UCSB Summer Travel Study, Teacher Education, Blue Horizons, and Junior Transitions are not required to submit a UCSB Summer Financial Aid Application. Your award will be processed based on the 2011-2012 FAFSA and participant lists provided by the program administrators or the Summer Sessions Office.

Important Dates

  • April 9, 2012: Summer 2012 Financial Aid Calculator Available
  • May 1, 2012: Summer 2012 Financial Aid Application Available
  • June 1, 2012: Priority Summer Financial Aid Application Deadline

    Undergraduate students who do not submit a Summer Application by this deadline will not be considered for Summer University Grant eligibility.
  • June 30, 2012: Summer Financial Aid Application Deadline

    This is the last day to apply for Summer Financial Aid. Applications and revision requests received after this date will not be processed.
  • June 30, 2012: FAFSA Deadline

Eligibility

The following students are eligible to apply for Summer Financial Aid:

  • Continuing and returning degree-seeking UCSB students who are in good academic standing.
  • Incoming Freshman and Transfer students
  • Graduate students who are enrolled in the Summer Language Institute’s Masters degree program
  • Graduate students who are enrolled in the Teacher Education Program

The following students are not eligible to apply for Summer Financial Aid:

  • Students who are academically disqualified
  • Non-UCSB students as determined by the UCSB Office of the Registrar. Visiting students should contact their home institution
