Erin Adamson

<p><em>My research centers on identity construction and community building by focusing on hand games and ring play among women of African descent in the United States using an ethnomusicological analysis of the interaction between language and the body. Frequently characterized simply as games played by children, this is an activity of socialization that unites the linguistic, cultural, and historical aspects of Black girlhood.</em></p>
