California Chafee Grant for Foster Youth

You can receive up to $4,500 per year for up to five years if you were in foster care between ages 16–18. Complete a one-time Chafee Grant application that remains valid until age 26.

Cal Grant Foster Youth Access Award

Foster youth students eligible for Cal Grant may qualify for up to $6,000 year in additional aid! No separate application is needed for consideration.

Middle Class Scholarship (MCS) for Foster Youth

Foster youth students enrolling at a UC, CSU, or qualifying CA Community College bachelor's degree program may receive 100% of the remaining cost of attendance after accounting for all other types of aid. No separate application is needed for consideration.

Guardian Scholarship

The UC Santa Barbara Guardian Scholars Program supports the academic and personal success of students who have been part of the foster care system. Program services include academic support, enrichment services, student advocacy, career guidance, peer networking, housing assistance and financial aid advising.
