<p>"I hope to increase our student’s understanding of the Indigenous history of the land our campus is built on and the Chumash culture we are surrounded by through plaques and signage, as well as statements of acknowledgment at the beginning of university events and ceremonies. Through these measures, I aspire to create a more welcoming and inclusive campus for Native American students, which will hopefully lead to improved recruitment and retention rates."</p>
