Once your updated EAP financial aid award is ready, you can view it on your regular MyAidStatus portal. You may Join the Line during normal business hours to speak with a general financial aid Advisor, or email FinaidEAP@sa.ucsb.edu to set up an appointment with our EAP Advisor to discuss the details of your financial aid. If you schedule an appointment, please bring a copy of your program budget sheet located on UCEAP's website.
Designate a relative or other responsible 3rd party to act on your behalf by completing the following two forms:
- Power of Attorney: The person assigned Power of Attorney has the authority to conduct financial transactions in your place while you are abroad. This arrangement cannot be established once the student is abroad, as it requires notarization.
- Consent to Release: This consent allows the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) to release financial aid information to the third party that you designate. You may access this on My Aid Status.
If you plan to accept any loans, you can accept them on My Aid Status, on the Student Loan Tab. If you are a first time borrower, you will need to complete a Master Promisorry Note (MPN) and an Entrance Counseling Interview (EI).
Please make sure to complete the entire loan acceptance process outlined on our website.
If you need proof of funds to apply for a visa for your EAP program, please fill out our Visa Letter Request Form well in advance of your Visa Application deadline.
IMPORTANT:
The Proof of Funds Letter will include the total cost of attendance for your EAP program.
The actual amount of financial aid that will be awarded to you will be based on your calculated financial need, which will either include grants/scholarships and loan or just student and parent loan eligibility.
Letters will be emailed 5-7 business days after receiving the Proof of Funds Request Form. Please make sure to plan ahead so that you can receive your letter before your appointment date.
If you have a Cal Vet Tuition Waiver you must submit your Authorization Letter to your UCEAP Finance Accountant and our VA Benefits email Veteransbenefits@sa.ucsb.edu. The UCEAP finance accountant will be able to provide further support on how to apply this to your account.
Cal Vet tuition waivers have historically covered the following: Participation Fee, Quarterly tuition amount , UC Student Services Quarterly Fee. Unfortunately, Post 9/11 GI Bill and other federal VA Education Benefits (besides Cal Vet Tuition Waiver) cannot be used for EAP programs at this time.
Students are responsible for the initial expense of airfare and will be reimbursed when their financial aid is received. Your aid will be disbursed no sooner than 10 days before the start date of your program.
