What is ScholarshipUniverse?

ScholarshipUniverse is a scholarship matching tool that helps UCSB students find and apply for both internal and external scholarships. Students are matched with UCSB scholarships they qualify for, as well as thousands of external opportunities that have been thoroughly researched and vetted, so you never have to worry about scholarship scams. Check out our ScholarshipUniverse FAQ for more information.

The 2023-2024 application closed on September 1, 2023. The awarding process is currently underway. Scholarship recipients will be awarded and notified by the end of Fall 2023 quarter.  Please note: External scholarships each have their own deadline, and are available all year long!

How does ScholarshipUniverse work?

ScholarshipUniverse uses information from your student record and the questions you answer to match you to scholarships offered by UCSB, as well as vetted, external scholarships. Once you’ve started answering questions, you’ll be able to see the scholarships most relevant to you and maximize the time you spend searching and applying.

Please view our step-by-step instructions on now to use ScholarshipUniverse.

UCSB Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships Awards

All internal scholarships managed by the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need. Students must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) to be considered for an internal scholarship, and preference will be given to those students who complete their application prior to the March 2 deadline. Due to the limited availability of scholarship funds, nearly all scholarships are awarded to continuing students with a demonstrated record of academic achievement at UCSB.

Incoming students tell us about which scholarships they might qualify for when they complete the “Scholarship Opportunities” section in Step 2 of the online admissions application or the equivalent section of the paper admissions application. During that process, they are asked to review a list of eligibility characteristics and check off those that apply to them. This information will automatically be included in your ScholarshipUniverse profile, and will be used to help match you to scholarship opportunities for which you are eligible throughout your UCSB tenure.

You can apply for almost all of the internal scholarships you are eligible for with just one application! When you submit the Office of Financial Supplemental Scholarship Application, you’re able to check the box for each of the internal scholarships for which you qualify and want to be considered.
